Sufjan Stevens Releases The BQE!

Sufjan Stevens seems to have been keeping things low key lately, it's been 4 years since his modern classic, Illinois, hit #1 on the US Heatseekers chart, with not much more than a Christmas box set being released during the years in between. Not even so much as an announcement to the subject of his next piece to the dauntingly ambitious "The 50 States Project".

But then again why do a whole state when you can just focus on one stretch of road? Sufjan is releasing a DVD film and accompanying soundtrack to The BQE, his symphonic tribute to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, and it's all going to be available on on October 20th through Asthmatic Kitty Records.

There is a trailer for the film that was just posted online and it is absolutely beautiful. Musically, this seems very akin to Aaron Copeland who, as most of you readers already know, is my all time favorite composer. Enjoy!
