The Last House On The Left Remake

Wes Craven is a legend of horror film making, starting as early as 1972's The Last House On The Left and running all the way up until 2005's Red Eye starring Cillian Murphy. Of course, he also stopped along the way to create The Hills Have Eyes 1 and 2 (In 77 and 85 respectively), the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise and The Scream series. After what I thought was a brilliant and refreshingly disturbing remake of The Hills Have Eyes, it's no wonder that the studios are digging back into the Craven catalog for fresh reboots. Eventually we are going to be seeing a new take on Freddy Kruger with the Elm Street remakes (I am going to miss Robert Englund but fuck yes) but first we have this little piece of horror nostalgia that is The Last House On The Left remake.

Call me crazy, but I actually think that this trailer makes it look pretty good. It appears to stay very true to the original, which is apparently due in part to the fact that Wes Craven is the producer and was heavily involved with the script. The truly bizarre thing here is that this trailer not only gives away pretty much all of the major events of the film, in order, but the twist ending too! I guess the only thing stranger is the piano cover of Sweet Child Of Mine they decided to use for the soundtrack, although to be fair, I actually kind of like it now. (Sweet child of mine? Get it?) Anyway, if you haven't seen the original or don't know anything about it, be warned that you are in for a two minute synopsis so something that is worth checking out on your own time. I think that it still remains absolutely one of the best, if not THE best, revenge movies of all time.
